Study: France, U.S. have highest global depression rates

A World Health Organization-sponsored study identified France and the U.S. as the nations with the highest depression rates. The report, published on Monday in the BMC Medicine journal, said 21 percent of French people and 18.2 percent of Americans reported suffering from an extended period of depression within their lifetime.
